The nail-biter Republican primary for the second Legislative District 1 seat between David Stringer and Chip Davis appears to have a stronger leaning toward Stringer with 2,000 ballots still to be counted.
At 5 p.m. Friday, the Yavapai County Recorder Leslie Hoffman said there were some 2,000 ballots left to be counted, including 100 provisional ballots. Department officials said 9,300 of 11,000 early ballots had been counted.
With the latest counts in Yavapai County and Maricopa County, incumbent State Rep. Noel Campbell has received 22,361 votes, 4,244 of those from Maricopa County. Maricopa County also listed their results as unofficial as of 5 p.m. Friday.
For the other representative seat, Stringer has emerged with 17,728 votes, 3,847 from Maricopa, and Davis has 17,134 votes, 3,514 of those from Maricopa County.
In the race for county assessor, Judd Simmons is at 18,134 votes to Pam Pearsall’s 16,740.
